A downloadable game for Windows

made in 12 hours in Unreal Engine 5

TODAMO is an innovative, asynchronous co-operation game for two players. The PC player sees a cylindrical system of 10 rotating discs, similar to a combination lock, and must shape the outer labyrinth by rotating the discs. The VR player is inside the cylinder, which looks like a large silo to them.

By turning the discs clockwise, the PC player moves the VR player downwards and counter-clockwise upwards. There are large blocks on the walls inside the cylinder that belong to the discs and rotate with them. The VR player must place the blocks in the correct positions to avoid collisions and correctly align the maze. Only through teamwork and communication can the players solve the final puzzle.

Genre: Puzzle / Co-operative game
Platform: VR & PC
Number of players: 2

Game setup:

  • PC player: Sees a cylindrical system of 10 rotating discs, similar to a combination lock. Each disc has a piece of a maze on its surface.
  • VR player: Located inside the cylinder, which looks like a large silo.

Game objective:

The aim of the game is to get the maze into the right shape by rotating the discs and moving the blocks.

Game mechanics:

  1. PC player:
    • You will see a cylindrical system with 10 rotating discs.
    • Each disc has a segment of the labyrinth.
    • By turning the discs clockwise, you move the VR player downwards.
    • Turning the discs counter-clockwise moves the VR player upwards.
    • The aim is to rotate the discs so that the maze is correctly aligned. 2nd VR player:
    • You are inside the cylinder and sit in the centre.
    • You can see the large blocks on the walls that belong to the discs.
    • These blocks can protrude into other segments and must be placed in the correct positions.
    • You can only select one block at a time at the level you are at.
    • If the PC player moves you up or down, you can take the selected block with you.

Gameplay:

Communication:

  • Players must communicate constantly to coordinate their actions.
  • The VR player describes the position and orientation of the blocks they see.
  • The PC player gives feedback on how the rotations of the discs affect the maze and the position of the VR player. 2 Positioning blocks:
  • The VR player selects a block and informs the PC player.
  • The PC player rotates the discs to move the VR player and the selected block up or down.
  • The VR player positions the block correctly and informs the PC player when this is done. 3 Labyrinth alignment:
  • The PC player continues to rotate the discs to bring the maze into the correct shape.
  • The VR player observes the changes and makes sure that no blocks protrude into other segments or collide.

Tips for the players:

  • Communication is key: Constant communication between players is crucial.
  • Patience: Sometimes you have to make several attempts to position the blocks correctly.
  • Strategy: Think of a strategy before spinning the discs or moving the blocks.

Winning condition:

The game is won when the maze is correctly orientated.
